Stadium: Camp Randall is a classy structure, not
really any bad seats. It's like most of Wisconsin: there was a lot of thought and pride put into the stadium, it fits perfectly with it's surroundings, it's tough but polite. If there was a way to make the stadium goofy and fat it would match it's home state's DNA perfectly.
Description: This might be America’s finest campus and
it’s certainly one of America’s finest small cities. The overall feel of game day is a big party,
the people are friendly, the bars right around the stadium open up their lots for tail gates. If you can, stay at the Wisconsin Union Hotel
Madison and have a beer or two at Der Rathskellar do that. If you can, go have a beer before the game at Essen Haus before the game, after the game have dinner after at the Great Dane.
Also, no matter the score of the game or what is going on you have to hang around for "jump around" at the beginning of the 4th quarter. Wisconsin's student section is a lot of fun, every other student section should strive to be as creative. The only tradition that I've witnessed that exceeds it is the War Eagle at Auburn.
A note on the Great Dane: I've been to my share of brewpubs and this is my favorite. Excellent food, excellent beer, excellent building, excellent atmosphere. You can't really do much better than this place (go to the one by the capital, I'm sure the others are great but this is the one I have been to).
We went up again in 2013 due to the fact that my Alma Mata was playing @ Wisconsin. This time we stayed about 25 miles south west of Madison near Mt. Horub and the Grumpy Troll (another brew pub). Some of the nicest farm coutnry in the United States. Area is packed with nature and culture. Bike trails everywhere, we actually biked about 10 miles into Madison and 10 miles back. If you have a few extra days spend some time in this area, you won't be disappointed.
