Year: THE SNOW BOWL
Games: New England 16 Oakland 13 OT
Rating: 10 out of 10
Cost: High
Tickets: Difficult
Stadium: Excellent
Description: “Uncle Fred! Uncle Fred! Uncle
Fred”. This game is included on the list
because it had everything: It will never
get better than this and I’m ok with it. It had: low expectations (The
Patriots were not expected to be good that year, just getting to the playoffs
was itself long odds. They went on to
win the title. Boston hadn't won a title of any kind in 20 years, and this kicked off a run that may never be equaled.) It was a night game. We were appropriately buzzed but not sloppy
drunk. We were the perfect age. The
whole game was in the middle of a SNOWSTORM. We got revenge on the Raiders for
Sugar Bear Hamilton in ’76. The Tuck Rule! Gruden’s conservative play
calling down the stretch. Vinatieri’s kic! Heff’s suspenders! The rental truck. A free grill.
Random fires in the parking lot.
Also, the person who got us the tickets has never been properly honored
for his sacrifice. JB worked at
the Pats ticket office. He went in there
and printed out a dozen tickets for us (completely against protocol) and I
believe he lost his job. A true
hero.
Attendees: Bones, Gordy,
MG, Heff, Pinkman, Uncle Fred, Rush, Shen,
Will, Fraher-Dog, ……Ignatious B. Reilly didn’t attend because he charged his college tuition on
his credit card. This is the same person
who owned a fucking jeep at the time and buys shit like 600 dollar power washers and
every other dumb thing a person in America can own. This is the football trip equivalent of
getting caught jerking off by your parents.
